Terms of use

Last updated 29 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you play Afterlight or use this website. Afterlight is provided by Imagey AI Inc., a Delaware C corporation trading as imagey.ai ("we", "us"). By playing, you agree to them. Contact: hello@imagey.ai.

2. Playing the game

Afterlight is free to play in your browser. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play it for your own enjoyment. We may change, pause or withdraw the game, or any painting in it, at any time.

3. What you may not do

Sharing links, screenshots and short clips of your own play is welcome, as long as you credit "Afterlight by imagey.ai".

4. Ownership

The game, its code, 3D worlds, characters, music, films, text and design are owned by or licensed to Imagey AI Inc. The paintings the worlds are based on belong to their respective rights holders; most are in the public domain. Sources, licences and credits are listed on our Credits & licences page. If you're a rights holder with a concern, please email hello@imagey.ai and we'll respond promptly.

5. AI-generated content

Parts of Afterlight were made with AI tools: the film narration uses an AI voice, some illustrations in the films are AI-generated (and are labelled as illustrations), and the music was created with Suno. The artist stories are researched and written to be accurate, but they are short, simplified tellings for enjoyment, not scholarly references.

6. Health and safety: photosensitivity

Afterlight contains flashing effects, rapid colour changes, swirling transitions and camera shake. A very small number of people may have seizures when exposed to certain light patterns. If you or anyone in your family has epilepsy or has had seizures, consult a doctor before playing. Stop playing at once and seek medical advice if you feel dizzy, have altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, disorientation or any involuntary movement. The game respects your device's "reduce motion" setting, which shortens the opening and swaps the swirl for a simple fade.

7. No warranty

Afterlight is provided free, "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your saved progress (which lives in your browser) will never be lost.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of the game. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. If you're a consumer, you keep all the rights your local consumer law gives you.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. If you're a consumer living in the UK or the EU, you can also rely on the mandatory consumer protections of your home country and bring claims in your local courts.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
